Strategies and low impact techniques to control the invasive Halymorpha halys in tree fruit crops

Obiettivi
Objectives

The objective of the plan is to develop innovative management strategies for the brown marmorated
stink bug (BMSB) Halyomorpha halys based on the optimization of the use and combination of tools
available for farmers, represented both by means of direct containment (e.g., insecticides and products of natural origin not yet investigated) or by preventive techniques (e.g., anti-insect nets) to be applied on different types of orchards (pear and kiwi).

Activities

Activities aimed to identify the period of the day in which the containment intervention against H.
halys is most effective and to define new control startegies using also natural substaces with low
impact.
Optimization of the management of anti-insect nets in orchards in order to reduce critical issues and
increase their action to prevent infestations.
Activities aimed to verify the effectiveness and methods of use of anti-insect nets in containing H.
halys infestations in kiwi orchards.
Evaluation of the economic sustainability of the various H. halys management strategies in the
orchards.
