Technological innovation in irrigation
The present project contributes to the automate of irrigation and fertigation both at the level of
Irrigation Boards and at the farm level providing integrated control tools applicable to the irrigation
delivery networks, fertigation distribution systems and irrigation machines.
In addition, the plan aims to provide guidelines and decision support systems for the modernization of water distribution systems.
Finally, such results and innovations will be physically available together with modern irrigation
systems in Acqua Campus. Here, demonstration and dissemination activities will take place to foster
the diffusion of progresses in efficient irrigation.
Project’s activities will be divided in three major parts. In the first, it will take place the development
of data-exchange protocols of the irrigation delivery network and fertigation banks. The second
activity will communicate the site-specific irrigation advice with the processing protocols of an
irrigation machine equipped with variable rate technology.
In the third activity, the new materials of the irrigation systems will be tested to propose the new
criteria of company irrigation efficiency.
A further activity will serve to promote the innovations produced, aggregating them in an exhibition
area that brings together all the most innovative irrigation technologies.
