Agrotech innovation transfer to Basilicata agricultural system. GO Agrotech Basilicata
Decreasing the intensive use of pesticides, irrigation and fertilizer by rational and accurate applications of inputs is a must for farmers both for competitiveness and environmental sustainability. Precision agriculture technologies (PAT), using remote and proximal sensing, can provide farmers with powerful tools able to diagnose and suggest accurate treatments in field and orchards. The projects intends to deploys pecific PATs innovations in farm environment in order to show the efficacy and power of ICT applications in agriculture.
The project aims at transferring 4 innovative applications of Precision Agriculture (PA) to Basilicata farms, and more in general to stimulate the adoption of PA technologies by Basilicata farmers. The activities are concentrated on the tailoring and adaptation of the technologies to the context, by also Best Practices exchange with extraregional developers, on introducing PA technologies via on field demostration activities, to evaluate the impact and finally to sieeminate the results at territorial, national and Europena level. The project operates horizontally on several agricultural sectros, particularly cereals, horticultural and fruit crops, and wine productions
The first project result consists in the implementation of the PROSIT system, a Precision Agriculture (PA) technology applied on vineyards based on satellite remote observations. The principal output provided by the system is plant stress georeferred map, able to provide accurate informations on water status. The technology provides a strong support for the optimal and accurate management of irrigation. Linked to and automated open field irrigation system, PROSIT alow to gain water savings, with a reduction in productions costs, ensuring quality and yeld. PROSIT implementaion will be carried out by open field demonstartion trials, that will be opent to acces to stkeholders and operators in specific Open Days.
The secon Project result concerns the application of a PA technology, named UNIBAS, that links proximity sensors mounted on unmanned vehicles able to move with centimetric accuracy. The technology is suited for crops fileds, garanteeing minimum tillage and accurate fertilization or pesticides treatments, related to the specific conditions measured by the sensors. UNIBAS technology will be demosntrated at farm level by open field demostration trialscarried out in cereal farms. UNIBAS allows to obtain important results in keeping soil structure and fertility, in the precision of the distribution of fertilizers and agropharmaceuticals, contributing in reducing costs and icnreasing emvironmental sustainability.
