Techniques to improve resilience and water use efficiency in the vineyards of the Piacenza area

The project aims at addressing and solving an apparent and concurrent situation of “water risk” combined with “water scarcity” that applies to the “Colli Piacentini” area. If not properly handled, such threat will drastically reduce the competitiveness of the wine sector with consequences on the rate of abandonment of the vineyard areas and also causing environmental and social issues.
The Plan aims at making available and at “demonstrating” to the winegrowers that there are already available practices able to considerably increase the “resilience” of the vineyard to the water shortage to allow the vine to overcome critical periods of water shortage without having to recur to irrigation inputs.
