PEI-AGRI

Development of an environmental sustainable cultivation model, improving the spread of old vineyard varieties, within Colli Bolognesi area

Obiettivi
Objectives

The objectives of the project are: conservation of biodiversity by means of agroecology; improving of old vineyard varieties and related genetic evaluation; optimization between production and environment conservation

Activities

Activities of the project will be: development of an innovative technique to enhance functional biodiversity and improve the resistence to pathogens; evaluation of the susceptibility of old vineyard varieties to the pests and diseases; study of the genome of old varieties; evaluation of vineyard quality in order to assess the potential of vinification.
Moreover, the management of the Operative Group and the dissemination of the results will complete the activity of the project.

Description

The expected results will involve vineyard agroecosystem and the old varieties cultivation, and in particular: the evaluation of the effectiveness of elicitors to enhance the resistence to pathogens and insect functional biodiversity; the role of elicitors on gene expression; the development of a cultivation technique based on induced resistence, in order to reduce the copper use; the soil biodiversity monitoring and conservation; evaluation of the quality of old varieties in the investigated rural area; evaluation of the susceptibility of old varieties to the main insect pests (including native and exotic) and diseases; the potential of ecological focus area on conservation and enhancement of beneficial insects; development of avineyard cultivation method which improve the spread of old regional varieties. The project plan ha the objective to develop a vineyard cultivation model in order to reach anoptimization between production and environmental conservation. This innovative model will lead benefits mainly to the growers belonging to the Operative Group, which will be able to receive the technical tools for vineyard cultivation within both organic and integrated management.
