Developement of methods for the monitoring and management of the most important phytosanitary issues in the actinidia regional chain
The goals of the project are:
• Identify Pseudomonas syringae actinidiae (PSA) tolerant or resistant genotypes and prepare crossings
• Evaluate PSA resistant hybrids
• Support a regional nursery chain, which also includes PSA resistant genotypes
• Develop techniques for monitoring the phytosanitary status of actinidia, in particular for the deterioration of actinidia
• Identify the biotic agents involved in the decay of actinidia and possible solutions
• Develop innovative systems to monitor conservation pathogens in kiwifruit
• Develop integrated low environmental impact strategies to control of kiwifruit diseases in conservation
The main activities foreseen by the project include:
• the creation and evaluation of new selections of PSA resistant genotypes deriving from crosses of A. arguta x A. chinensis
• the evaluation by drones of actinidia crops affected by decay at various times of the season, with the aim of evaluating the possibility of developing a method to predict this adversity
• the analysis of the onset of pathogens related to the cold storage of kiwifruits and the research for methods for their containment
• the promotion and dissemination of the results
