The general objective is the realization of an aerial spraying system on top of biological products for the fight against diseases of specialized plants to be tested on olive groves. The professional figures involved aspire to be able to use the flight system not only for spraying a product against a specific pathology but to insert sensors into equipment dedicated for the control of the ripening of the drupe, the possibility of checking through the state of the leaves the need to perform fertilization operations and other checks on the state of the plant and the soil to better monitor the development of the olives.
Precision agriculture aims to innovate the processes related to interventions in the field and the organization of company production factors.
Specifically, the S.A.P.R. adopted will allow the implementation of a process innovation, since it is suitable for:
a) perform aerial survey at low altitude, whose multispectral sensors generate georeferenced maps of vigor for the purpose of an early identification of diseases, as well as the differentiated management of irrigation and treatments;
b) reduce the use of technical means (fertilizers and pesticides) as a result of aerial spraying activities on the canopy as a means of biological control of the olive fly.
The elimination of the fly requires an important use of pesticides, incompatible with organic production. In any case, it brings with it the consumption of water resources, the problem of the drift of traditional systems of spraying from below (on foot or by machinery), the compaction of the ground in the case of use of heavy or towing equipment.
The use of S.A.P.R. (Aerial Piloting System) for aerial spraying in this context would offer significant opportunities such as the reduction of waste and pollution, improved soil fertility and environmental monitoring. Furthermore, the use of sensors with dedicated equipment could allow, according to our IT technicians, the control of other conditions / characteristics of the crop: an effective control of the maturation of the drupa, the possibility to verify through the state of the leaves the need to perform fertilization interventions and other checks on the state of the plant and the soil to better monitor the development of the olives. More generally, precision agriculture would allow the organic cultivation to be customized according to the specific climate and business context through data collection and optimal management of cultivation operations.
