INNOVATIVE CROPPING SYSTEMS IN SUNFLOWER AGRI-FOOD CHAIN FOR BIODIVERSITY AND ECOSYSTEM SERVICE PROTECTION AND FOR USE OF NEW PROTEIN SOURCES

Obiettivi
Objectives

Introduce innovative systems in the organic sunflower supply chain to protect the plant biodiversity, the ecosystem services (honeybees and pollinators), the use of by-products as a new protein source. The project aims to provide organic farmers with ancient sunflower varieties selected based on their technical and nutritional characteristics (for humans and for honeybees) with the aim of obtaining resilient seeds. The bioactive compounds contents of achenes, cold extracted oil, cake, pollen and honey will be analyzed. Finally, the technological features for the use of cake/ flour in bakery products will be evaluated.
