Emissions reduction in the digestate management

The project aims to evaluate, in Parmigiano-Reggiano dairy cattle equipped with anaerobic digestion plant, which are the optimal and innovative treatment modalities, management and agronomic use of the digestate to minimize ammonia emissions. LCA analysis of the various production chains will allow to evaluate the carbon footprint associated with milk and energy production. Expected results:
- Quantification of the ammonia and GHG emissions from the storage and spreading phases of the digestate such as and subjected to solid/liquid separation treatment in comparison with manure.
- Quantification of the ammonia and GHG emissions reduction achieved with the use of good agronomic techniques in the application of the digestate.
- Quantification of the ammonia emissions reduction achieved by acidification of the digestate.
- Quantification of the reduction of the carbon footprint achieved with innovative working yard in the digestate management.
