Models of innovation for the multi-functionality and sustainability of farms in the Park areas
Support diversification and multi-functionality, Avoid abandonment of disadvantaged mountain areas, Promote the enhancement and usability of the landscape and environmental heritage, Improvement of attractiveness and accessibility of rural areas and services
The Multi.Park project is aimed at promoting innovation to increase productivity in terms of efficient use of resources, promote the reduction of emissions, increase the capacity for resilience and adaptation of agricultural systems. The goal is to promote the sustainable development of farms within protected areas. We intend to experiment a multifunctional agricultural company in the Park area where regulatory limits must become opportunities for development by introducing activities that can increase farms. Multi-functionality is a key element in the development process of the agricultural sector and the rural world.
The context of implementation of the project is the Park Area; in particular, two protected areas in Umbria were examined. The lacustrine agriculture of Polvese Island and in general of the Trasimeno area, needs a boost to the modernization of agriculture, and a greater link and enhancement between the tourist offer, supported by a territory characterized by a high landscape and environmental value , and the agricultural sector.
The mountain agriculture of the Monte Cucco Park, characterized by mainly extensive pastures and productions, can offer interesting perspectives for the enhancement of quality products and high recognition, through production methods with low environmental impact (first of all biological) and brands of territorial qualities.
