The production chain of cereals and protein crops of the Emilia- Romagna Region for the feeding of dairy cows of the Parmigiano Reggiano DOP cheese
The objective of the plan is to start an organizational path dedicated to an Emilia-Romagna production chain of cereals and grains intended for livestock use in the sector of the Parmigiano Reggiano (PR) DOP cheese.
The aims are to recover both incomes, with regards to cereal productions, and value, with regards to the cultivated land where, and to support the link with the territory of the Parmigiano Reggiano DOP.
The Plan aims to demonstrate to what extent it is possible to bring together the needs of the producers of grains and milk for PR cheese on a convergent economic objective and with the use of supporting tools.
- Nutrition claims and guidelines for the use of alternative feedstocks to imported corn and soya in the
dairy cow rations for the Parmiggiano Reggiano DOP.
- Estimated production potential of cereals and protein crops intended for dairy cows feeding in
Emilia-Romagna and in the PR production area.
- Evaluation of the production models that may comply with the new CAP and of their impact on the
environmental and social sustainability of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese.
- Setting of tools for economic and contract management, for planning and production monitoring, for
traceability in support of the supply chain
