Technical innovation and carbon capture on management of state-owned forests of Alto Appennino Modenese

Obiettivi
Objectives

The project aims to strengthen the sustainable management and multi-functionality of some publicly owned forests in the high Apennine range of Modena, bring innovation and competitiveness to forestry companies and monitor the carbon sequestered in the soils / wood of the forests subject of the demonstration, preparing a plan for the contribution for energy uses of wood from local forest sources, enhancing the training and professional updating of forest operators, innovating the mechanization of local forestry companies by structuring a relationship between forest owners and users.

Activities

The Project foresees: THE DRAFTING OF THE SUPPLY PLAN, through preliminary and context analysis and dendrochronous auxometric surveys; the construction of DEMONSTRATIVE FORESTS and the provision of high-tech equipment; the monitoring of the QUALITY OF FOREST SYSTEMS AND EFFICIENCY IN THE CARBON SEQUEST, in addition to the dissemination and coordinated dissemination of information and updates to the supply plan and to the implementation of courses on the use of forest equipment, sustainable forest management and promotion of the ecosystem services of forest demans of the upper Modena Apennines

Pratice abstract
Description

The project aims to strengthen the sustainable management and multi-functionality of some publiclyowned forests in the upper Modena Apennines, through the preparation of a long-term sustainable procurement plan for the transfer of energy from the forestry material to enhance training and professional updating of forest operators and innovation in the mechanization of local forestry
companies, so as to create a relationship between forest owners and users and monitor the carbon
stock in forest soils. The proposed Plan is aimed at identifying a concrete solution for the activities of
the forest enterprises of the upper Apennines, involving all the players in the chain, from forest
owners, to users and to final consumers. The main expected results are the increase in the technical
capabilities of the workforce of the companies, the definition of methods and criteria for quantifying
wood harvesting on principles of ecological and functional sustainability for a naturalistic/systemic
silviculture, on the tops and soils of the properties involved in the project, the acquisition of equipment
and machines of innovative significance for the Emilia-Romagna Apennine context and the provision
of a supply and wood harvesting plan based on ecological sustainability criteria for the forest
properties. The Project aims to define a sustainable supply plan for the forest-wood supply chain, thus
ensuring sustainable and lasting management of public forest properties, as well as quantifying the
sequestration of carbon in biomass and soil in different soil environments and in different how to use
the woods. It is also proposed to improve the knowledge of the effects of forest uses on the quality of
organic matter and the biological quality of the soils
