Collective management and valorization of forest products of the Apennines
The current forest management and wood valorization in the Nure Valley show improvable aspects,
especially in the case of the possible products that can be realized. The project aims to start new
production systems with higher added value than the ones currently carried out. This could improve
the cooperation between local operators and create new job opportunities, with positive effects on the entire territory. Another objective is to reduce the land fragmentation in the valley, promoting a
collective management of the properties.
Forest census on the lands involved in the project;
Analysis of the local forest operators;
Study of the different form of collective management;
Economic and environmental valuations (carbon footprint) related to a reduced land fragmentation and an improved forest management;
Market analysis for wood products (current and future situation);
Firewood packing and production of new wood products for specific uses;
Start of new forms of sale for the wood products of the valley;
Dissemination and training activities to transfer information and new forest practices to local
operators.
