PEI-AGRI

"Prevention and control of mycotoxins in maize grain by means of best agricultural practice supported by an integrated digital platform - MicotAP"

Obiettivi
Objectives

A) Reduction of the Mycotoxin content in Mais grains through the adoption of appropriate agrotechnics supported by an IT platform that provides precise information based on calculation models developed by the research and fed by local data, allows to reduce the stresses of the crop making it less sensitive to pathogen attacks.
B) Rationalization and reduction of crop inputs
C) Connecting Research - Technologies - Farmers
D) Encouraging the adoption of the Public Administration as scientific studies show a positive correlation between the use of systems for precision farming and the reduction of the risk of cultural stress.

Activities

1. Identification of the type of stress - type of monitoring - cultivation techniques - frequency of verification
2. Development of the MicotAP IT platform enabled for precision agriculture
3. Identification of the best hybrids in terms of mycotoxin resistance
4. Identification of CORROBORANTS with efficacy in containing mycotoxins
5. Communication and dissemination activities

Pratice abstract
Description

Corn produced in Veneto is often contaminated by different categories of mycotoxins in variable quantities depending on the climatic trend, the cultivation techniques, the varietal choice and the mitigation of the effects deriving from biotic and abiotic stresses. It is now clear that in the cultivation of maize the possible presence of mycotoxins should not be addressed with emergency approach but as a factor whose management must be included in the normal production protocols. The management of the "mycotoxins" problem requires a multitasking approach that considers a series of interventions whose application must be foreseen in advance, not knowing at the beginning of the year what the specific toxin will be that could manifest itself at alarm levels.
To support maize growers in the implementation of agronomic techniques able to prevent the occurrence of fungal infections and ensure the protection of the agro-environmental objectives of the RDP, this project aims to evaluate the effectiveness of different agro-technical operations and the administration of products biostimulants. It is also envisaged the creation of a Web-based IT platform able to integrate all the information necessary to support the management decisions
