Strengthening of the supply chain in Puglia

Obiettivi
Objectives

To consolidate and enlarge the quinoa supply chain in Puglia through a diffusion of its cultivation, paying attention to the optimization of agronomic practices, to the product harvesting, to seed processing and milling processes, for the flours production designed for niche markets (celiacs, vegans) with a view to environmental, economic and social sustainability. The project also aims to evaluate, from a "qualitative-quantitative" point of view, the genetic materials of quinoa selected, over the years at CREA-CI, for their adaptability to the Apulian areas

Activities

1) Evaluation of Quinoa cultivars most suitable for the Apulian areas;
2) Optimization of agronomic techniques for the cultivation of quinoa;
3) Improvement of collection operations;
4) Seed processing tests (from seeds and for food consumption);
5) Decortication tests;
6) Milling tests;
7) Environmental impact assessment;
8) Analysis of economic impact and profitability;
9) Market analysis;
10) Analysis of the supply chain.
