PEI-AGRI

Application of remote sensing for the productive and qualitative improvement of cereals for advanced supply chains

Obiettivi
Objectives

The objective of the project is to make the innovations for the agrotechnical management of stress factors (irrigation, fertilization, defense) accessible to the cereal companies of Piedmont through the guidance offered by the satellite systems of multispectral optical remote sensing in correspondence of a process control plan selective and orientation of production lots. In other words, to activate a company assistance service to optimize the management of agrotechnical practices and collection for storage centers aimed at enhancing agricultural products.

Activities

The aim of the project is to enhance an Extension Service to the farmers able to be utilized by all the cereal farms, the storage center, the organization of producers through the introduction of the remote sensing  driven by satellite (Sentinel 2).
The expected results concerns the setup of  a remote sensing Service effective and applicable to all the area; the Service will drive the management of the stress, of the agricultural practices and the quality variability of cereal and the other crop of the cooperatives.

Context

CAPAC is the principal operator on cereal production and trade in Piemonte. CAPAC is a cooperative of second level that gather 11 cooperatives with 2293 farms associated.
The contest of these farms is the typical one of those devoted to the cereal and other industrial crops. These farms mainly need:

to support the economical income through the transformation of the commodities, as maize, wheat, barley, soybean etc, in specialties;
to enhance the control of environmental limits and stress, the application of remote sensing to small farms, to drive the optimization of the post-harvest process of the specialties;to implement the traceability  of the production with the composition of more homogenous lots with define quality

Pratice abstract
Description

better and more effective management of specialties. Guiding agrotechnics in a precise and timely way, through the innovation developed by the Project, will allow to minimize water, nutritional and biotic stresses; very marked reduction of the above-mentioned downgrades... recovery of at least 10% of special product and increase of the specials themselves

Description

innovations for the agrotechnical management of stressors (irrigation, fertilization, defense) through the guidance offered by satellite multispectral optical remote sensing systems at a plan for the control of selective processes and orientation of production batches.
