Enhancement of Colli Piacentini wine district competitiveness and sustainabilty broadening local grapevine biodiversity
The Colli Piacentini wines are mainly based on four genotypes. Modern issues posed today by climate change are limiting the economic and environmental sustainability of the productive process. The project aims at broadening the grapevine biodiversity of the Colli Piacentini area, finding new solution to improve the sustainability and competitiveness of the local wine industry.
The project partners will test minor local genotypes for their vegattive and productive parameters in
different sites within the wine district, according to main vineyard issues posed by climate change;
new cultivars will be scouted and selected in the ancient vineyards of the area; new products and wine tipologies will be designed and evaluated, based on innovative cultivars having the best enological traits; best methods for gapes cultivation and post-harvest management according to the production of high quality dessert wines will be identified.
