Almond Management Innovations : Approaches for an innovative organic almond farming

Obiettivi
Objectives

Implementation of innovative solution for Organic almond production in Apulia aiming at reducing
the productive inputs while improving productivity, quality and profitability.
To make the first transformation phase more efficient by applying emerging technologies already
applied in other sectors of food processing.
To enhance the production of regional almonds through the characterization and development of new
products.

Activities

1 Development of innovative protocols for the rational management of irrigation based on monitoring
the pedo-climate and the real functional state of the crop
2 Transfer of innovative agronomic practices for "carbon and water friendly" soil management, based
on natural grassing and mulching and on the use of husk as mulch on the row.
3 Application of innovative low-impact methodologies that can be used in a biological regime for the
management of phytosanitary adversities.
4 Transfer of innovative protocols for the sanitization of the zero residue product, based on the use of
micro-waves
5 transfer of technological protocols for the creation of new almond-based products.
